Spirituality
Why is it so important to develop a spiritual connection with your maker? Well, let me take a minute and speak for myself and my own experience. I tried it my way! And you know what, my way just wasn’t working. I was allowing other things to become my God and by doing so nothing was ever enough for me. I was always craving more, giving more and in the end I found myself overdrawn, negative balance, zip zero zilch. I allowed my foundation to distract me, meaning my family, spouse, children and job. By no means am I saying my family wasn't important I was losing balance and my foundation was weak. I also allowed other things to take up my time, such as money, my thoughts and my feelings. Anything you let control you is a form of worship. Take a minute to really think about it. When we are trying to keep up with how the world wants us to be or try to please and be everything to everybody, we are never happy. There’s always a nagging feeling deep inside of us craving more, wanting to do more and for some reason the more we do the more this feeling grows. It’s a feeling of doom and gloom a feeling of what if. What if I can’t live up to the standards of the world or those around me? What if I can no longer produce what they want of me? These feelings bring on fear, anxiety, worry, anger, resentment, hatred and can eventually cause sickness.
Matthew 6: 31-33
"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But
seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
What I have learned is when you don’t put God in his proper place in your life you are never complete and always looking outside for validation, but it doesn’t have to be this way and you can start by making him priority, numero uno, number one. Develop daily habits of prayer, meditation and worship. His word will bring comfort, wisdom, encouragement and inspiration. He will bring a peace to your spirit. Develop a deep relationship with him. No one can tell you anything about your personal relationship between you and him, because it’s just that "Personal". Pray for a clear mind and a deeper knowledge of self so you will no longer need validation from the world. He will supply your needs. When we live to please God he promise to bless us and we shall prosper. When you decide to serve God with your whole heart you will develop inner peace. When you’re feeling weak or mess up don’t beat up yourself up. Turn it over to him and ask him how you can work on it together..
When God is not your foundation, you are building on quicksand and can guarantee to keep putting in more than you will ever get back.. When you make God your foundation, he will help and guide you to the right tools to make sure your building on sturdy ground.
Spirituality is not religion, it's a deeper level of connection with whomever you believe in The universe, Jehovah or Allah. For me it's God.
